and Todd Bertuzzi, who the Wings wanted back - who should have stayed
in Detroit because they picked him up and he had the ability to play again this

The Detroit Red Wings acted quickly after the loss of Mathieu Schneider to the Anaheim Ducks when they signed former New Jersey Devils defenseman Brian Rafalski to a five-year contract worth $30-million.

Rafalski, a Dearborn native, is 33 years of age and netted eight goals among his 55 points last season.

The three-time All-Star had played his entire seven-year career with the New Jersey Devils, recording 44 goals and 311 points, and won two Stanley Cups with the franchise (2000, 2003).

Schneider signs with Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks secured one of the Red Wings' unrestricted free agents this afternoon by plucking defenseman Mathieu Schneider from the club with a two-year, $11.25-million contract.
From a Red Wings perspective, Schneider's contract was likely at least $500,000/year more than what the club was willing to spend. For Anaheim the move could possibly be a precursor to Norris-runner up Scott Niedermayer's official retirement.

There are plenty of free agent options on the blueline yet for the Red Wings, with Danny Markov, Brian Rafalski and Brad Stuart and others highlighting the group.

Earlier this week Rafalski, who played for New Jersey last season, expressed an interest in playing for a "Midwest" NHL team. Rafalski is a metro Detroit native.

Schneider enjoyed two of the best seasons of his NHL career in Detroit and finished with 11 goals and 41 assists last season and was having a strong playoff run before breaking his wrist in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the San Jose Sharks.

Red Wings general manager Ken Holland has a full lineup of agent meetings scheduled over the coming two days in an attempt to lock up most of his free agents before the market opens.
One player who will not be asked back, though, is center Robert Lang.

"I've contacted Petr Svoboda and told him we will not be offering a contract to Robert Lang," Holland said Wednesday.

This isn't much of a surprise. Lang, who entered the 2007 playoffs as the team's leading scorer during the previous two playoff runs, had just two goals and eight points in 18 games this spring. His ice time hovered around 15 minutes -- low for a player considered a top-six forward -- and there was tension between Lang and coach Mike Babcock.

Before the NHL draft begins with Friday night's first round, Holland plans to meet with the agents for Dominik Hasek, Mathieu Schneider and Danny Markov. All three are eligible to become unrestricted free agents July 1.

10 Years ago, i sat in my apartment with my children. Fresh in my memory was Steve Yzerman hoisting the cup over his head in a crowd of red on Woodward Ave. It was estimated that 1 million people attended the 1997 Victory Parade in Detroit. It was still fresh in my memory mostly because it was my first Stanley Cup as well. I grew up watching the Tigers and occasionally, the Lions, but NEVER the Red Wings. My dad ruled the Television and until 1995, i was oblivious to the sport. I read in the paper about the sweep in the finals that year, but didn't watch. The next season, 1996, I didn't watch many games during the regular season. Seriously, only about 20 - tops. But I watched the playoffs. I witnessed Steve Yzerman's double overtime goal against the Blues. I witnessed the awful hit on Kris Draper via Claude Lemieux and the heartache that was losing to the Avalanche in the 3rd round after that fantastic season. And I remember not really knowing who "Brenden Shanahan" was when he suited up for game one of the 1996-97 season, but being excited none the less. I watched in delight that March when at 18:22 of the first period, the clock stopped as Darren McCarty beat the piss out of who we now know as the Turtle, and Short little Mike Vernon took out a Legend by the name of Roy. (Not Wah, but Roy - like Orbison) I was there for the playoffs, with my livingroom wall plastered with news paper articals and i jumped up and down and cheered loudly to the point of the upstairs neighbors pounding on their floor to get me to shut up as Darren McCarty scored what was the single prettiest goal i'd ever witnessed to give us our first Stanley Cup in 42 years. And I made sure the entire building knew by posting a flyer on the bulletin board in the lobby. It was a fantastic night.

But just 6 short days later, as i sat in my apartment with my children, i received a telephone call from my best friend in a panic to turn it onto PASS (Pass Sports - now known as Fox Sports Detroit). And the first thing i see is Steve Yzerman, walking hastily into a hospital. The headline saying that members of the Detroit Red Wings were in a car accident, and rushed to the hospital. This hosptial. "Who was it?" "Is he dead?" "How many were there?" I was going crazy with questions. They showed the limo. It was totaled. Later i find out that it was part of the Russian Five. 5 Russians on our team, 2 Defensemen and 3 forwards, all able to speak their own language on the ice, and thoroughly ruin the night of many-a-hockey player. Vladimir Konstantinov and Slava Fetisov, along with team masseur Sergei Mnatsakanov, were all injured in the limo when driver Richard Gnida, who's drivers licence had been suspended, "Blacked out" and crossed 3 lanes before jumping the curb and crashing into a now non existant tree and severely injuring both Konstantinov and Mnatsakanov. Fetisov was also injured, but not nearly as severe. With closed head injuries, Vladimir and Sergei endured months of comas and rehab only for us to come to the realization that both careers were over. The best Defenseman in the NHL had lost his ability to play. He would never be the same.

One year later, with Konstantinov and Mnatsakanov in the arena, and Fetisov on the ice, the Detroit Red Wings swept the Washington Capitals to win their second consecutive Stanley Cup. After Steve Yzerman hoisted it, and the Washington fans cheering, Vladimir Konstantinov was wheeled onto the ice, handed the Stanley Cup and as he held up one finger, signaling that Detroit was once again Number One, the team gathered around him for the team photo before any other player skated with the cup. Trainer John Wharton was summed up the entire night when he said: "This Cup wasn't for Vladdie and Sergei, it was because of them."

The Wings’ Vladimir Konstantinov wasn’t the only Red Wing injured in the infamous limo accident on June 13, 1997. Team massage therapist Sergei Mnatsakanov and defenseman Slava Fetisov were also hurt in the accident.

The Red Wings re-signed 45-year-old defenseman Chris Chelios to a one-year contract Tuesday. By the end of next season, he'll be 46 years old and by the way he looked this season, especially toward the end, he'll continue to be a great Defenseman for our team. After Kronwall went down with a broken sacrum, Cheli stepped up his time on the ice and was fantastic in doing so. I'm glad he'll be back.

Also, we should know this week sometime if Hasek will be back. Knowing him, he'll "retire" again and want to come back after next season only to fuck up the goalie we get for next season ala Curtis Joseph. Emery and Giguere are both free agents this summer... And we in Detroit do need our goalies to fight... However - with Wah (Roy) no longer playing... i suppose it doesn't matter as much.

The (Mighty) Ducks have won the Stanley Cup.

Okay.

The Ducks beat the Ottawa Senators in 5 games to win their first Stanley Cup. The Sens didn't seem to even show up, getting routed 6-2 in the clincher.

Chris Pronger was suspended for a second time in as many series for game 4 from a blow to the head of a Sen - not sure which, sorry.

Scott Neidermayer won the Con Smyth for Most Valuable Player. Remember, the last time they made the finals, back in 2003, Giguere won the Con Smyth for being the most underrated player in the playoffs.

I still hate Pronger - i didn't watch the end of the game, but i can only assume that that girl hoisted that beautiful trophy up and over his head like that rest of the team. Him touching the cup? I rank that up there with Pam Anderson's ass on it back in 02 when Kid Rock still thought she was hot. I am thankful though that he finally put some glasses on before she gave birth to his baby... Anyway - way off topic. Where was i? Oh yeah. I hate Chris Pronger.

I guess its good that the team that beat the Wings went and won the Cup. And Hurrah for the Neidermayers to win the Stanley Cup together and be able to share it with their mother, who has obviously not taught them any kind of independence, that neither of them could be seperated from thier brother without fear of bleeding to death. Weirdo's. They even share the same beard - short of mr. grey whiskers not found on the face of younger Rob. *Shiver* There is such a thing as TOO close, you guys.

Round 3, Game 6 - Detroit 3, Anaheim 4

It all comes down to this.

I will update at intermissions, but there will be no live blog this game. It's too important to worry about who wins which face off, what time that goal might have been scored or who's going off for which (bullshit) penalty.

I want to watch... and I'll update at intermission.

I had the ducks picked in 6. I wish for anything to be wrong.

End of First Period.

Anaheim won the opening face off, and scored short handed just under 4 minutes in.

Detroit came out playing horribly, just as i suspected.

Each team has had 2 penalties. Holmstrom for tripping and Lidstrom for interference with under a minute left. So Anaheim will start the second with a power play. Great. *eye roll*

Marchant also got a tripping call. And the team received a too many men penalty, neither power play was scored on. By the Wings anyway. It was during Marchant's penalty that Rob Neidermayer scored the only goal of the game.

Shots are 14 - 7 for Anaheim.

We've gotten 3 shots on net this period. Can't score if we don't have shots. So i guess we won't be scoring.

Okay, Ladies. Last Blog for the Red Wings for the season. I'm not going to continue to feel horrible while i tell you what's going on.

The Effs have beaten the Wings. Shots are 13 - 26. This one is over, as is the season.

Detroit did attempt a late game comeback, scoring 3 goals in the 3rd period, but it wasn't enough. Better things could have happend if the Effs had called some of the penalties at the end of the game - like with 32 seconds left and we have a guy getting dryhumped in front of the net so badly that he can't stand up... Ironically, that's the time when the ref's shouldn't be calling penalties... they should be allowing the game to be won or lost based on talent alone. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case in game 5, when the Effs gaveDatsyuk on a fluke interference penalty allowing the last 2 minutes of the game to be played with a 2 man advantage down low and score the tying goal in the final minute to take it to overtime. If your going to call them at the end of one game, you should at the end of all games.

To late now. I lothe the thought of Chris Pronger getting his name on the Stanley Cup... about as much as i Lothe Pamela Anderson in a picture with her ass on it. Slut. I hope she dies. Someone want to hit her in the chest with a hockey puck... oh wait, you might want to aim further up like her throat or face, because she's got some ginormus ugly fake breasts that the puck will either deflect off or be consumed by.

And by that, he obviously means - by the look at the picture to the left - following through by holding him to the boards all the way to the ice... Neidermayer has finished his check into Holmstrom and has his mind on the puck again. Pronger, however, still has his focus on our guy and is making sure he goes down.

Rob and Scott Neidermayer (The latter of which is really rather unattractive in the adjacent picture) teamed up last night in the second period of overtime. While Rob put the HARD hit on Jannick Hansen along the boards, the puck squirted out to Scott at the point who shot towards the net - to an unsuspecting Roberto Luongo. Luongo was busy trying to get the attention of the refs - arm up in hopes of getting a penalty on the aformentioned hit - looked back with barely enough time to lower his glove as the puck cleared his pad and hit the netting just inside the left goal post.

The crowd jumped up - cheering loudly - as Luongo looked back into the net before falling to the ice, face first in defeat.. His season was over. All thanks to Neidermayer brothers.

The Anaheim Ducks have won the series 4-1 and they won't know until Monday, at the very earliest, if they'll be playing Detroit or (god forbid) San Jose.

So Congrats to the Ducks - and the Brothers of Neidermayer - for thier defeat against the Vancouver Canucks - one of my least favorite teams.

Today - we are down 2 games to 1 in the second round against the San Jose Sharks.

Something i've not done in ages - update. SO...

Right now, Buffalo & New York Rangers are tied at 2 games a piece after tonight. Buffalo scored a seemingly goal with about 17 seconds left in the game, but it was ruled a no goal due to insufficiant evidence. The Rangers won, and now they are tied. Buffalo originally went up 2 games to None against the Rangers.

Ottawa is leading their series 2-1. The Devils won game 2, but were shut out in game 3.

Right now, period 3 of game 4 of the Anaheim/Vancouver series is about to play. Vancouver leads the game 2-0, but are down 2 games to 1 in the series.

So, no sweeps for the second round.

Rumor has it that Henrik Zetterberg is having back problems. We all know he missed the last 20 games of the season with an inflamed disk in his back, and he's not practicing with the team. However, he did play last game and had a goal. And so far is slated to play this evening. So i have no idea whats up.

Holmstrom stayed home in Detroit while the team went on to California. He's got blood in his eye and hasn't been cleared to play yet. He'll skate Tuesday, and be re-evalulated to see if he can take off to California to join the team for game 4, or stay home and try to play game 5.

Lebda is also out, having said that if it was the regular season, he'd be out 4-6 weeks at least. He still wants to play and wants to join the team for game 5. We'll see how its going then, huh?

Bertuzzi'll be on the front line with Hank & Dats this evening. Game On - 10 PM. Let's Go Red Wings!

Brett Lebda (ankle) and Tomas Holmstrom (eye) will not be playing in Game 2 vs the Sharks.

(Yes, it is the Sharks. The San Jose Sharks - see previous post where i called them Calgary like 9 times)

So, thats really shitty, because Lebda is a great defenseman and Homer in front of the net... incredible. He's the best in that position.

But you've not heard the bad news yet...

In game 1, Zetterberg didn't play great.. or very well for that matter. No one expects "greatness" EVERY game, but we do expect "well" And we got neither. They (announcers, officials, team - everyone) said that he was out with the flu or something and didn't skate much this week. However, it IS the playoffs. the PLAYOFFS! Who tells the truth in the playoffs? Is his back out of whack again? Is that why he didn't play well in game one?

He did have 6 shots on net, but he only won 3 face offs (out of 9). He only took 9? Game 5 last series, he took 19 - and won 14 of em. So, is he hurt - i guess we'll find out in about 12 hours and 30 minutes. Good Luck, Gentleman. I'm worried :(

Devils move on, Dallas stays alive and Calgary gets fined

Congratulations to the New Jersey Devils who beat Tampa Bay 3-2 this afternoon to move forward into the next round. They will now play Ottawa and Buffalo will play the New York Rangers.

Last night, Dallas shut out Vancouver again to tie the series at 3. Game 7 will be Monday night.

Jamie McLennan was suspended for 5 games for his slash on Franzen's chest last night. Jim Playfair was fined $25,000 and the Calgary Flames fined $100,000 for their part in the actions of the Calgary players. Lebda is out with a concussion because of Langkow's uppercut in the 3rd in which Lebda was penalized for "Clipping" Iginla speared, then crosschecked Schneider to the ice and was penalized, not counting his crosschecks on Zetterberg, Lidstrom and Draper all in the final minutes of play. Playfair... or Iginla.. one or the other, i forget which now was quoted as saying "That's the emotional part of the game." I totally disagree. There is no place in hockey for classless play as such put forth by the Calgary Flames in game 5. I hope the Wings teach them a lesson in front of their hordes of fans at the Saddledome this evening. 36 minutes to gametime. 6 minutes to Pregame. Go Wings. Good Luck.

The Buffalo Sabres held off a 3 goal 3rd period by the New York Islanders last night to win the game 4-3 and the series 4-1.

San Jose beat Nashville after Patrick Marleau scored the game winner and series clincher with just 4:21 left in the game. Nashville one once in this series, a mirror reflection of last seasons first round defeat against, who else? the Sharks. Scott Nichol was givin a game misconduct and a spearing major at 14:58 in the second to lead to Marleau's first goal.

and with just 14 shots on net, New Jersey put 3 of them in past Holmqvist to win the game 3-0 as Brodeur was awesome in net, facing 31 shots himself. That series is now 3-2 in favor of the Devils.

Today:
Detroit is back home looking for some love and a win against Calgary. Calgary has won games 3 and 4 at home after the Wings won the first 2 at the Joe. Calgary and Detroit were first and second respectivly in wins at home during the season. Lets hope the Wings can keep up the home team winning streak today. 1 hour and 20 minutes to opening face off at 3PM.

and tonight at 8, the Dallas Stars will do their best to fend off Vancouver and stay alive in this series. And they hope to do it in regulation instead of going into Overtime for the 4th time in this series. Vancouver currently holds the lead in the series 3-2.

Go Rangers! Way to sweep the Thrash with a 4-2 win last night.

New Jersey needed extra time to beat Tampa Bay last night 4-3 to tie the series at 2.

Buffalo took a 3 games to 1 stand over the Islanders last night after winning 4 - 2. Can the islanders win 3 straight?

Nasville lost to San Jose in the late game and are now down by 2 games in the series. They need to win 3 as well to go forward in these playoffs.

I'm sorry I missed the first 12 of the second. I was to meet someone who was giving me a RW sweater - sort of. It’s black and it’s from 2002, but who am I to deny? He was 30 minutes late. can I just say? This game is REALLY SLOOOOW compared to the first 2 games. It feels like a November game against Florida. It means nothing. The refs were kinda junky. Draper had a good game. But it didn't matter in the end. The game started SO slow. Detroit is tired - they spent all day here yesterday but I’m sure it still felt late. Anaheim is just one win away from sweeping Minnesota after holding back another late attempt to come back by the Wild. They should look into playing their end game closer to the beginning. Anaheim went up 3 games to none in a 2-1 win last night.

Speaking of 2-1 scores. Vancouver and Dallas have a hard time finishing in regulation, as 67% of thier games so far have gone into overtime (and overtime and overtime and overtime) Vancouver came out the victors last night after just over 7 minutes of overtime and now leads the series 2-1.

Pittsburgh melted down yesterday after going up 1-0 in the first minute of play to 4-1 going into the third. Sidney Crosby scored a pretty goal from his knees to make it 4-2, but that's the way it stayed. Ottawa is now leading the series 2-1.

Can i just say - I've been watching Hockey for 5 days now and i LOVE it! My kids are mad at me, but i don't mind. It's playoffs, Baby!

My power cord on my laptop is broken. My battery is dead as well. I have one on its way - a power cord - so basicly what this means, since i can't see the tv from my livingroom computer, i write everything down, then add it after the game. An update on last nights games, and series'

Pittsburgh pulled one out of their collective arses and beat Ottawa yesterday. Sidney Crosby got the game winner off the shaft of his stick. Woot! They play again.... TONIGHT? Yup. Series tied up at 1... you know, as of right now.

Rangers beat Atlanta again. This was a low scoring game, very defensive. Both of the Rangers goals came from former Red Wings. Avery & Shanahan. Rangers take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Tampa Bay beat New Jersey by scoring a goal in all three periods. New Jersey forgot there was a third period, only scoring a goal in the first two. Oops. Series tied at 1 a piece.

and the Islanders went on to beat Presidents' Trophy winning Buffalo 3-2 as well, tying that series at 1 too.... also.

LAST NIGHT'S GAMES:

Nashville beat San Jose 5 - 2. Can you believe Cheechoo played? That knee to knee by Hartnell was scary. But he played.
San Jose ended the game with 57 penalty minutes. But not as much as the Preds and their 84 Penalty Minutes. Radulov hit Bernier from behind and has now been suspended for game 3. Jerk. I hate the Preds. Series tied at 1

Dallas shut down Vancouver 2-0. That was nice. They still looked tired from that marathon game from Wednesday. That series is tied at 1.

Tonight, i will post my first "live blog." And by "Will" i mean "Will attempt"

I broked the power cord to my laptop yesterday. I have a full battery and the power is off right now, but still. It may not last through the entire game. Figures, right? I might find a way past it though. Sitting caddywompus at my desk with my wireless keyboard might work.

I figured for any game that does not involve wings, i'll still write. Just not live. Last night i wrote it on paper - long story - I'll write it here exactly like it is down on paper.

WTF happend to Pittsburgh? People used to say that the wings were "to old" but is it possible for a team to be too young? There are 3 teenagers on that team. Granted, thankfully, one of them was the regular season scoring leader, and did finally score in the last minute of the game. Staal scored too, becoming the 5th youngest player to score in the playoffs.

Ottawa showed up with some fire under them. They skated, passed and scored. I missed the non-goal by Crosby and missed the replays as well. (Damn kids) So i'll stick with my "It shoulda been a goal" theory and say that i'm sure that had it not been called back, the game would have been a lot closer. Poor young Fleury looked scared and played scared. He calmed down after the second goal, but after the Crosby's goal was called back, it seemed to knock any wind that might have been in Pittsburgh's sails and Fleury. When they finally did start scoring, it was much to late.

Need to: Someone should have a talk with Fleury. Calm him down. Get his confidence up. They can go home with the series tied and use that momentum to win in the Igloo. Series? Ottawa 1-0

It's 2:15 Am and i'm still watching the Dallas/Vancouver game. We're about to start the 3rd period of overtime. Dallas has like 52 shots on net in the first 5 periods of this game. Detroit had 58 shots on net in 65 minutes last week. (we lost in a SO) Dallas is shooting like a MF, but like detroit, they aren't good quality shots. Vancouver has a short bench. Burros & Cook are out. They look tired. And those fans. Jesus, stop effing booing. I love that the refs are letting them play it out, but if those fans had their say, the Canucks would have a power play every two minutes... Joel Lundqvist shot the puck into the crossbar with 20 secons left in OT2, but alas --

Also did not watch this game, but it looked exciting. Nashville tied it up at 4 with under a minute left in the game. The game went into a second OT when Rissmiller scored a pretty goal to win it. Hartnall effed up Cheechoo's knee - apparently purposely - wand was kicked out of the game. Tootoo was his normal dickhead self as well, getting boarding & roughing calls. Series? San Jose 1-0

Well, It looks as though Zetterberg will be playing. He participated in yesterday's practice with no problem. That's good. The only thing i worry about is that he'll have Datsyuk Syndrome from last post season. Datsyuk didn't play in the last few games and came into the playoffs and played rather shitty. I think he had like 3 assists in 5 games. Hell, he had 8 points in 8 games with the Olympics.

Bertuzzi will also be in, if he can be cleared of his CONCUSSION!!! WTF happend to a "Strained Neck" after he bowled over Ozzie on Thursday?

I know, it's playoff season. They never say what actually is wrong. I was surprised with "strained neck" and not "upper body injury." Chelios, out Saturday "resting" will now be ready for Thursday's opener, feeling better from whatever injury he actually had. I guess there is good news-ish. Darren McCarty will be playing. He played 32 regular season games. Most recently he played April 8 against Colorado - and lost. Before that, he played the day after Christmas. He has 0 goals and 0 points on the season. I can't fathom he'll be more of a hinderance on the ice for Calgary, not having feet under him. But if he's only playing 5 minutes a game, then he won't even have time for that. Hasek appears to be healthy as well. Which was the biggest deal in my mind. He's old. I mean, he's no Chelios - the oldest player to play in the playoffs. He's apparently promised Gordie Howe that he'll quit when he's 51. Gordie, we know, is the oldest player to ever DRESS in the post season, but did not play.

Badish News. The wings played The Columbus & Chicago in April. Calgary played teams like Colorado, who by sunday were out of the playoffs (hahahaha) but beat the Flames anyway. I guess they had to get one last mad shot for nothing. They should have won Saturday. They must have not wanted it. LOL. Sakic did resign with them for a year though. Just one though. If the Avs don't make post season next season, maybe he'll leave the mile high city.

Hockey NOT in Canada?

500 million dollars was spent to get hockey on CBC in Canada. (okay, the contract doesn't start for 2 years) So when Ottawa was slated to fight Pittsburgh in the playoffs, Canadians were psyched about watching Dany Heatley (105 points) against Sidney Crosby (120 points) Instead, NBC got that game and CBC Hockey Night in Canada is stuck with Tampa Bay vs New Jersey. (Also known as "the short end of the composite stick") It's not like i'll watch Sid the Kid on Sunday when i've got Red Wings to watch. I do want Pittsburgh to win though. Funny how that works since i wasn't a big fan of Mario.

Oh yeah, Congrats to Michigan State for winning the NCAA College Hockey championship. We missed it. Stupid Arena Football. I was surprised to hear that they won over the PA after the game. A FOOTBALL game. I called home and my daughter told me that it was tied at 1 with 41 seconds left in the game. She watched it down to 26 seconds before turning it back to whichever teeny-bopper show she was watching. But with 18.9 seconds left, Red Wings Draft Pick Justin Abdelkader scored and then State added an empty netter with 1.2 left. She said she turned it because it was "boring." I guess she couldn't wait 7 seconds.

I understand that it's still only Monday, and that Playoffs are 3 days away, but considering we've played...well, shitty... in the last 3 seasons. We lost to Anaheim in the first round, then we lost to who else, Calgary in the second round, and then we got to rest for a year, then last year we should have flattened the Oilers, only to have them spank us - in the first round. I guess the only thing good to come out of those was that each of those teams went on to play 7 games in the Stanley Cup Finals - and lose.

Upon further investigation into Calgary today, i've decided a few things. Hasek NEEDS to play well. If he can play better than Kipprusoff, then the flames have no chance. However, Calgary was the only team better than us at home this season, and they have on helluva defense. We can get Lids to take care of the likes of Iginla, and we're going to have to post some guys around the net to knock in some ugly goals.

However, if Kipprusoff plays like he did two (3) years ago, then we better pray he gets hurt early. Not "Oh, no - he'll never play again" hurt, but something that will keep him out for a couple of games long enough for us to get up a couple of games. If we can get a nice lead, then we won't need to worry. However, we're good at blowing "nice leads." The Flames will need to try to keep Holmer from screening their goalie - without hurting him like most teams like to try - and keep our power forwards from in front of the net so Kipprusoff isn't blind. I believe we can pull it out.

There, see if talking about it will make my stomach ache go away.
